Wrap up the drive and send it by post to Alta. If you're nearby, drop it off in person. We confirm receipt the same day.

Duplicates removed, photos sorted by date, screenshots and videos separated out. We keep you posted along the way.

You get the drive back — sorted

We ship the drive back with a short final report: what was removed, how much space was freed, where everything lives.

What we don't do.

Your photos are yours. These rules apply without exception:

  • We never upload photos to cloud services or external servers.
  • We never permanently delete anything without your written approval.
  • We don't manually review the content — only automated processing.
  • We never use your images for anything else — not for training, not for marketing.
  • All working copies are deleted within 30 days of you confirming receipt.
  • The machine processing the drives is kept offline during the work.

How the pipeline works, briefly.

You don't need to understand this to order — but if you're wondering what actually happens to the drive, here it is:

Duplicate detection

Each file gets a cryptographic hash. Two files with the same hash are bit-for-bit identical and can safely be merged into one.

EXIF

Date sorting

We read the timestamp from the photo's EXIF metadata. If EXIF is missing, we fall back to filename and modification date.

pHash

Visually similar photos

Perceptual hashing catches burst shots and lightly-edited versions — like the same scene shot five times in a row.

CLIP

Content classification

An open classification model separates screenshots, documents, and memes from actual photographs — keeping the main folder clean.

Photos scattered across the PC itself?

If your photos live everywhere on the PC — in folders, on the desktop, in downloads, on OneDrive — you can't just ship us a drive. Then we'll figure it out together.

Common questions.

How long does it take?

2–7 days from when we receive the drive to when it's on its way back, depending on size. We give a concrete estimate once we've seen what's on the drive.

What if the drive is damaged?

We don't do data recovery. If the drive can't be read, we ship it back without billing — you only pay postage. Recovering data from a broken drive is a separate service we can point you to.

What about sensitive photos?

Photos are handled confidentially. We don't manually review the content — the pipeline works on file hashes and metadata only, not the visual content beyond automated classification. The machine is offline during the work.

How do I pay?

Vipps or invoice, after the drive has been shipped back and you've confirmed everything looks good. You pay nothing up front.

Where are you based?

We're in Alta, Finnmark. We accept drives from all of Norway by post — that's the most common way to deliver.

What if I want the duplicates back?

We never permanently delete without approval. By default, duplicates go into a separate folder on the drive that you can delete yourself once you're confident in the result.
